EDUCATION & TRAINING

You probably already have many of the skills you need to work in childcare, but here are some ideas for specific training and development.

HIGH SCHOOL

Kickstart a career in childcare by getting your South Dakota Child Development Associate credential while in high school.

The American Red Cross offers online courses on babysitting basics and advanced childcare training, that can be taken at the learner's convenience.

COLLEGE

Several higher-education paths can prepare you for a career in childcare. Many South Dakota universities and technical schools offer specific programs for childhood education and care. Taking additional courses, such as teaching, psychology, business or health sciences, can also benefit you in the childcare field.
